In the world of HIV/AIDS services and research we focus on three main areas:  Prevention, Treatment and Care.  This is also where the majority of funding is allocated.  Often other factors that lead to infection and may explain risk factor and risky behavior are not given the same resources.  Social workers need to look beyond the medical model in understanding HIV.  This workshop will educate social workers on the impacts of complex trauma and examine the effects of complex trauma on high risk behaviors and HIV infection.  It will also address the impact trauma has on the HIV population post-transmission.  The presenter has an extensive history of working with trauma and HIV and her organization works closely with clients and families where 99% of the population has a history of complex trauma.  Content will be supplemented by a number of case examples.

Registration deadline: April 5, 2017 or until the class is full.

Sponsored by Consortium for Child Welfare.  6 CEUs.  $100
