Suicide, Prevention, Intervention and Ethics

  The Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Ethics training will identify the differences between beliefs, morals, ethics, values, laws, human rights, social responsibilities, and freedoms. Participants will be able to identify and articulate ethical issues that may arise in a variety of practice settings and organizational contexts and how to draw upon the help of supervisors, attorneys, professional associations, and other sources of assistance when faced challenging ethical issues. By applying critical thinking skills (making use of deontological, teleological, and virtue ethics) to assist with the resolution of ethical issues, the participants will be able to apply conflict resolution strategies and skills to engage clients, coworkers, and others in collaborative discussions of ethical issues.   Registration deadline: July 15, 2017 or until the class is full. Applied Critical Thinking and Ethics

This training will provide participants with a greater understanding and knowledge of the importance of critical thinking skills in social work practice. This training will introduce participants to critical reflective skills and how to apply these skills in day-to-day practice. Participants will also apply critical thinking skills utilizing a ethical decision making process. Registration deadline: July 14, 2017 or until the class is full. Let's Talk About Sex: Engaging Youth

 This session will discuss issues related to working with youth and providing accurate information to them regarding sex. This includes discussions regarding sexual reproductive health, birth control methods, healthy relationships and impact of mixing sex and drugs. Participants will also gain knowledge and understanding on how to effectively engage youth in conversations regarding sex and birth control.   Registration deadline: July 12, 2017 or until the class is full.
